Screen Vessels, Aircraft and Crypto Wallets Against Sanctions Lists

For when what you have in front of you is the asset itself: an IMO number, a tail number or a wallet address. No name to make up.

Sanctions lists do not only name people and companies: they also designate ships, aircraft and digital currency addresses. In COX, a vessel, an aircraft and a crypto wallet are subjects of their own in the list search. You type the identifier the asset carries, and the search compares it against the copy COX keeps of each official list. A match by identifier is exact, with no score.

Three Assets, Each With Its Identifier

Each one asks for what identifies it, and the selection of lists changes to the ones that hold that kind of record.

Vessel

You type: The name or the IMO number, and one is enough; the MMSI, the call sign and the flag if you have them.

Lists that answer: The vessels designated by the United Nations 1718 Committee, OFAC, the European Union, including the vessels of Annex XLII, the United Kingdom and Canada.

The result says: "Designated vessel", with the IMO number it matched.

Aircraft

You type: The name or the operator, the tail number or the serial number (MSN), and one is enough.

Lists that answer: OFAC, which designates aircraft by their tail number and their serial number.

The result says: "Designated aircraft", with the tail number it matched.

Crypto wallet

You type: The address exactly as it is published, letters and digits; the holder is optional.

Lists that answer: OFAC, which publishes the digital currency addresses of the persons it designates: bitcoin, ether, tether, tron, monero and other currencies.

The result says: The designated person the list attributes the address to, and its currency. If you typed a holder, the holder's name is compared too.

Who Needs It

Professionals and businesses whose customer brings a ship, an aircraft or a payment in crypto.

Law firms and registered agents

Before registering, selling, financing or mortgaging a ship, check the hull itself, not only the company that owns it today.

Free zones, logistics and shipping agents

The vessel that carries the goods is part of the operation: screen it by its IMO number along with the buyer and the seller.

Aircraft sales and brokerage

Screen the aircraft by its tail number or its serial number, and its operator as a company.

Businesses that receive crypto

Real estate, vehicles, jewelry or professional fees paid from a wallet: screen the address the payment comes from.

How the Search Answers

The same evidence as any list search in COX, with what changes when the subject is an asset.

From the copy of each official list

These searches are answered only from the copy COX keeps of the official lists, edition by edition. The identifier you type never leaves COX.

Exact match, critical priority

A match by IMO number, tail number or address is deterministic, with no score threshold, and it comes first in the review with critical priority.

No list skipped in silence

If you leave a list that cannot answer an asset search in the selection, the search does not run and tells you which one to remove.

Which lists, as of which date

The record names every list searched and the date of the data it was searched against. A list that was not consulted is reported as not consulted, never as clean.

A sealed PDF

The report prints the IMO number, the tail number or the address searched, and carries a fingerprint that anyone can verify on the public page.

Also in bulk

The bulk screening sheet takes the IMO number, MMSI, call sign, tail number, serial number and wallet address columns. The type is read from its own column, never guessed from the name.

Frequently Asked Questions

Screen both: the owner, the manager and the operator are searched as companies. But a ship can change its name, its flag and its owner, while its IMO number stays with the hull for life, and the lists designate the hull by that number. Searching the IMO number finds the designated vessel whatever it is called today.

The ones COX keeps a copy of and whose current edition holds that kind of record. Today, vessels: the United Nations 1718 Committee, OFAC, the European Union with Annex XLII, the United Kingdom and Canada; aircraft and wallets: OFAC. When you choose the type, the selection changes to those lists by itself.

No. The search says whether the address itself appears on a list and to whom the list attributes it. It does not follow the funds to other addresses, which is the work of blockchain analytics tools.

The same as with any other match: a person reviews it and confirms or dismisses it with a written reason, and the decision stays in the record with its date and author. What to do with a confirmed match depends on your law and your prevention manual.

Yes, with the bulk screening: the sheet takes the columns of each asset, and every row receives its own search, with its number, its results and its sealed report.
