Non-financial obligated entities Audit-ready evidence Screening in seconds

COX gives a pawnshop a file for every customer who pledges or redeems: identity read from the document, sanctions and PEP screening with a certificate, the goods and the amount recorded, and a risk score that flags the customer who pledges too often or too much, with the evidence kept for the regulator.

Where compliance hurts

  • A customer pledges jewelry of unknown origin and wants the money now
  • The same person pledges and redeems every week, which is a pattern nobody looks at
  • Branch staff change often and the identification is done differently in each one
  • Loans are small one by one and large when they add up per customer
  • The regulator asks for files and the branch has a ticket book

Who is obligated, country by country

A pawnshop lends money against goods: it is a lender and a buyer of valuables at the same time, and the laws of the region treat it as a non-financial obligated entity on both counts.

Panama

Law 23 of 2015 lists pawnshops among the non-financial obligated entities supervised by the Superintendency of Non-Financial Subjects.

Mexico

The LFPIORPI treats loans with or without guarantee by persons other than financial institutions as a vulnerable activity, which is what a pawnshop does with every pledge.

Colombia

Companies supervised by the Superintendency of Companies adopt SAGRILAFT by activity and size; confirm whether your company falls within its scope.

Guatemala

The IVE registers the persons who perform designated non-financial activities, lending among them, under the law against money laundering.

Dominican Republic

Law 155-17 defines the non-financial obligated entities that the Financial Analysis Unit supervises; a lender against pledges should confirm its status.

Venezuela

The organic law against organized crime and terrorism financing sets prevention duties that the sector regulator specifies for lenders.

Thresholds and reporting deadlines change: the platform reads the ones in force for your company's regime. Confirm your status with your regulator.

Why they choose COX

Faster than the line

The customer uploads the document from their phone and the search runs in seconds; the clerk confirms and prints.

Patterns per customer

Pledges and redemptions add up per person and period, so the frequent pledger is visible instead of invisible.

Every branch the same

One policy, one matrix and one file format for all branches, with roles so each one sees only its own.

How It Works

Three steps from a new customer to a documented file

1

Collect

Send the customer a secure onboarding link. They upload their identity document, proof of address and source of funds from any device, and the platform reads the document for them.

  • Document reading and prefill
  • Selfie and liveness check
  • Beneficial owner declaration
2

Verify

Sanctions, PEP and restrictive lists are searched at once, adverse media on request, and the risk matrix scores the customer with the weights your policy sets.

  • Sanctions, PEP and watchlists
  • Risk matrix by country and activity
  • Enhanced due diligence when required
3

Document

Every search, decision and document stays in the file with its date and author. Print the due diligence report or the screening certificate when the regulator asks.

  • Immutable audit trail
  • Sealed PDF reports
  • Renewal reminders

Red flags the file has to document

  • Frequent pledges and redemptions in cash by the same person
  • Goods of a value out of proportion with the customer's profile
  • Several customers pledging the same kind of goods on the same day
  • A customer who redeems immediately with a larger sum than the loan
  • Refusal to identify themselves or documents that do not match the person

What the platform gives you

Everything a non-financial obligated entity needs, without a compliance department

Identity verification

Documents read automatically, selfie with liveness check and the data proposed for the officer to confirm.

List screening

Sanctions, PEP, restrictive and open-data lists, with a certificate that says which edition of each list was consulted.

Risk matrix

Country, activity, product, channel and PEP status weighted the way your manual says, with the result explained.

Adverse media

News about the customer ranked by how surely it names the same person, never a list of homonyms.

Due diligence files

Natural and legal persons, beneficial owners, related parties, documents with expiry dates and renewal alerts.

Reports for the regulator

Due diligence report, screening certificate and training records, each sealed with a verifiable fingerprint.

Frequently asked questions

The file opens once; each pledge or redemption is recorded as an operation in it. The screening can be repeated as often as your policy says.

Operations add up per customer and period in the AML module, and the monitoring rules flag frequency and amounts that break the customer's profile.

Yes. Branches are recorded in the platform and roles decide who sees what; the customer is one, whichever branch they walk into.

The file with the document, the screening certificate that names the lists and editions consulted, the risk assessment and every operation with its date.

Per credit, with no monthly minimum, or a monthly plan for chains with volume. The calculator gives a figure for your number of customers.
